The Magna Carta, also the Great Charter, is an agreement between King John, his people and his clergy. It was written in June of 1215. It limits the king's power over the nobles.The Magna Carta states kings could no longer jail nobles without trial and he couldn't tax them unless they agreed. It also gives nobles power in the goverment. Stated that the government could not iterfere with the indeviduals life. The Magna Carta is like the Declaration of Independance. The Great Charter set laws and rules for the country.
